Situated in a picturesque village on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, a couple of miles outside the market town of Helmsley, this much loved, Michelin-starred Inn has origins believed to date back to the 14th Century.
The Lion Inn on remote Blakey Ridge is a 16th Century freehouse owned and run by the Crossland family since 1980. Located at the highest point of the North York Moors National Park, it stands at an elevation of 1,325 feet offering breathtaking views over the valleys of Rosedale and Farndale.
Open fires burn all day and evening in the ancient fireplaces. The original low beamed ceilings add to the friendly atmosphere of the Inn.
The bar is well known for its good selection of quality real ales which include Black Sheep Best Bitter, Theakston’s Best Bitter, our award winning Old Peculier, Copper Dragon’s Golden Pippin, Thwaites Wainwright Bitter and a range of regularly changing guest ales. An extensive menu is offered including special vegetarian dishes, children’s meals and daily Chef’s Specials – served all day, every day from 12 noon until 10pm.
A traditional country pub in the charming village of Hutton-le-Hole serving great food and real ales with a friendly service and a very warm welcome. Coach and private parties are welcome by arrangement for up to 60 guests.

All our cakes are made daily in our kitchen and our coffee beans are batch roasted for us by Roost in Malton, North Yorkshire.
The different breads we use in our dishes are also baked in our kitchen. Starter Steve is our living, wild yeast culture. He has been fed daily for 7 years and as sourdough starters are living cultures, they change and develop all the time, but he never fails to produce great tasting bread.
