Several of our cottages have bedrooms on the ground floor:
*Note in East Steading there is an external flight of stairs to access the property from the car park, though the cottage can be accessed directly from the garden if necessary.
Some of the cottages do have some steps on the ground floor – please get in touch if you require more details.
Our cottages are centred around two hamlets; Low Mill and Church Houses. Four of the cottages are located in Low Mill (Mill Farmhouse, Hollins Garth, The Byre and East View), while the remaining seven can be found in Church Houses. Several of the cottages would work well for friends and family travelling together, for example Mill Farmhouse sleeps 8 and The Byre sleeps 2, so it’s perfect for a large family in Mill Farmhouse, with perhaps grandparents just next door in The Byre. Please get in touch for advice on which cottages are close to one another.
In cottages where there is a log burning stove, or outdoor log burner, we provide logs and firelighters. Should you require more logs during your stay please contact us.
Yes, each cottage has its own barbecue which is available for use in the summer months. You can purchase charcoal from Farndale Store, where you will also find a selection of meat from the Estate’s own Berkshire pigs and Aberdeen Angus cattle.
Yes, we have many walking routes in the dale, and there are options for walks right from the doorstep. The renowned ‘daffodil walk’ connects Low Mill with Church Houses, but there are many other options to choose from too.
You are welcome to arrive from 4pm on your day of arrival, and we request that you depart no later than 10am on your day of departure. This allows our housekeeping team to ensure the cottage is thoroughly cleaned before and after your stay.
Absolutely! We are pleased to welcome dogs in all of our cottages. Please click to learn more about our dog policy.
Mill Farmhouse and The Byre have EV charging points in the car park, however our other cottages do not. We are in the process of investigating the installation of electric vehicle charging points at Church Houses. In the meantime, we request that you do not use “granny chargers” as our insurance does not cover any damage caused or fire risk.
There are charging points nearby at Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering.
All of our cottages are now equipped with Nespresso machines. We supply a starter pack of pods, and if you would like to purchase additional pods these are available to collect from Farndale Store.
All of our cottages have both a fridge and a freezer (no larder fridges with a freezer box). They are either an under counter size, or free-standing fridge/freezer.
We provide all bedding. We provide a hand towel and bath towel for each guest and a kitchen towel and tea-towel. You may wish to bring more with you if you think you will need them.
Farndale Store in Low Mill in Farndale (YO62 7UY) is the nearest shop, selling essentials such as milk, fruit & vegetables, ready meals, Farndale Estate reared Beef & Pork, staple cooking ingredients, toiletries, gifts.
